Description

This sporty little loop offers superb views of the Rhône plain, the Pierre Châtel gorge and the town of Yenne. Beforehand, you'll have had time to discover the verdant hillsides of the Dent du Chat territory.
From the Maison de la Dent du Chat, head towards Place Charles Dullin, then Rue Antoine Laurent to leave the village. As you leave the village, you follow the Flon valley gently for 1 km. At the bridge, turn right and follow the narrow roads to the hamlet of Les Couleurs. The route then climbs steadily up to Chênecourt along a pretty path, before reaching the hamlet of Charosse. At the end of the hamlet, at the "Les Malods" sign, turn right onto a wide track that leads into the forest. After a short descent, you find the GR 9 at the Puits de Bacchus, which takes you northwards. The path is wide up to the top of the trail, but narrows as it descends slightly and becomes more technical. This section of the GR offers numerous views over the Rhône plain. Be careful, as the route is very busy with hikers. At Pré Cevin, head for the Croix de Chevru, which you leave on your left in the forest. Short technical section with portage before the two viewpoints over the Rhône and the Défilé de Pierre-Châtel. The final descent to Yenne begins, passing through the hamlets of Chevru and Curtelod before heading straight for the village. Once in Yenne, head for the campsite and return along the banks of the Rhône.
